## The cabin in Mosó
Early in Covid – back in the five-person gathering limit – [[Rúna Esradóttir|Rúna]] and I made up a strange game: "If you had to move, where down south would you want to live?" We sat on the sofa and cruised around Google Maps. When we landed on Helgafellsgata in Mosó (Mosfellsbær) we agreed this was the perfect spot for us — countryside in the city.
A few years later I was recording at Sundlaugin, Sigur Rós's studio. While waiting for a musician I had a look at the property listings on visir.is. There was an open house on Helgafellsgata, so I went straight over. That's when I remembered our game.
I fell in love with the house, called Rúna and said I wanted to make an offer. She trusted me 100% and asked me to send her a photo. I texted her this one:

## Never left! – but moved south anyway
We got the house and have been doing it up at a snail's pace for three years: new roof, windows, insulation, and a workspace for me. This summer we finally moved to Mosó with our younger boy, Eldar.
Dýri, the older one, is staying in Ísafjörður with Grandpa Muggi and going to college there.
In 2002 I went west to Ísafjörður to finish my BA thesis, and found Rúna along the way. Two months turned into twenty-odd years. This summer I finally convinced her to marry me – in our back garden. A small party with the family, karaoke, amazing food and a bouncy pillow.

## The summer flew by
I played 40 concerts at Hljómskálinn, a good few town festivals, some bigger festivals, two shows with [[KK]] and a bunch of birthdays, weddings, funerals and parties. Such a luxury to be here in town, able to jump into all kinds of mischief and be home 20 minutes later – instead of 6 hours :-)
Here I am in spa mode in Húsavík last Saturday – walked on water, unforgettable.

## New song – Til lífsins í ást
I just released the song [[2025 Til lífsins í ást|Til lífsins í ást]] ("To Life, in Love") in two versions – one in a hillbilly mood. A small part of it was recorded in Nashville with Neithaniel, [[KK]] and [[Jón Jónsson]], then finished at home in the Shed with [[Ómar Guðjónsson|Ómar Guðjóns]] on pedal steel, [[Birgir Steinn Theodórsson|Birgir Steinn]] on double bass and [[Kristofer Rodríguez Svönuson|Kristofer Rodriguez]] on drums.
And then the [[Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands|Iceland Symphony Orchestra]] and I made a version together, arranged by [[Þórður Magnússon]]. A little warm-up for the concerts in November.
> [!note]- Plugs – as they were in the letter
> **Hljómskálinn** – I've played 40 concerts in this beautiful house all summer – sort of living-room concerts, small and cosy. 60 minutes, romantic mood by the pond. Just added a few dates in October.
>
> **Me and the Symphony** – This is something you probably only get to do once in a lifetime. I wholeheartedly recommend you come.
